Ujung Kulon National Park is an isolated untamed wilderness on the southwestern tip of Java. The area covers about 760 km2 including Panaitan island. The park was opened by the Dutch in 1921 to protect the near extinct Javanese Rhinoceros. It is one of the best places in Java for wildlife spotting. Some of the Wild animals are : birds, wild pigs, hornbills, river otters, deer, crocodiles.
For diving, swimming, snorkeling reefs activities are best at Peucang Island. Scuba Diving can also be found to the West and other locations off Peucang Island.
A short walk through Tamanjaya village and paddy fields leads to hot spring just inside the park (You can also deep in the hot spring in our spa at Sanghyang Indah Resort).
Handeuleum Island trip by Local fishing boat across the West Bay, will lead you to white sandy beaches and coral reef shores presenting a fascinating world of marine life.
These are some of the many activities and point of interests which you can find at the park. Thus, we recommend an overnight stay in the park. The length of walking track which takes you around the whole park is 45 km or approximately 3 days walking.
